Vera and Jones Headline UFC on Versus 1
March 16th, 2010 | by admin |The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) makes its debut on the Versus network on Sunday, March 21 with a live event from Broomfield, Colorado. The main card is headlined by a light-heavyweight clash between Muay Thai specialist Brandon “The Truth” Vera and the dynamic Jon “Bones” Jones. Will the veteran Vera be too much for the up-and-coming Jones? Both fighters are coming off of loses and look to get back on the track in the highly competitive 205 pound weight class. Vera lost a closely contested fight with legend Randy Couture at UFC 105. Jones was absolutely dominating Matt Hamill at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale this past December before being disqualified for using illegal downward elbows. This marks the only blemish on Jones’ professional mixed martial arts record of 9-1. This event also marks the return of the Versus network to the channel line-up of satellite provider DirecTV after they reached a service agreement earlier this week.
