How do I treat unglazed marble?

I would like it to have a gloss finish and it is VERY porous.

I put 3 coats of sealant (for marble tile) and 3 coats of gloss top coat (for ‘stone’).

I gave all top coat layers, and the final layer of sealant plenty of drying time. Now it peels when it gets wet!

What gives?
