Chocolate Is Not the Best Dog Food

One food that is absolutely not on the list of best dog food is a box of Valentine’s candy. Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that is a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic. Even if there are no immediate ill effects, you need to keep in mind that problems may not appear quickly, but death can still occur within twenty-four hours. If your canine friend has gotten into the chocolate, look out for staggering, labored breathing, vomiting, and/or diarrhea. There is a rapid progression of symptoms that can end in death. Caution and care are the watchwords.
