Will spreading vinegar on a black marble wall prevent dogs from peeing on the wall?

My neighbor believes that spreading vinegar on the wall of the building will repel dogs. I have heard other attributes to vinegar but not this. There may be a chance the vinegar will destroy the shine of the marble.

Acidic fluids have been eating at stone and stuff for centuries if you spray it on with a spray bottle once or twice it shouldn’t hurt. The trick is to get it on before the dogs have established it as a place to mark.
