how to grout polished marble?

December 19th, 2009 | by admin |

I’m just curious how they grout polished marble tile, or if they do at all? unlike more common tile like ceramic or various other stone where you have a good gap between the tiles, alot of times with polished marble tile that i’ve seen there is so little space between the tiles that it almost looks "seemless". I was just wondering if they still put grout between them and if so, is the process the same?

There is a reason that it looks like so small a gap. This type of marble is made to go almost tight together with what appears to be no gap. If you look at a loose pc of marble, you ll see the edges have a very slight bevel on them. This is where the grout holds onto. Most installers leave a small "hair" gap to allow minor size differences. But other wise the un sanded grout goes into the small bevel.
Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
