What’s the shelf life of flax seed oil?

Air and heat are the biggest enemies of the nutritional value of flax seed once it has been ground to flax seed meal or processed into the flax seed oil forms. If you want the convenience of flax seed oil on its own, it may be worth paying a little more and buying flax seed oil capsules. The gelatin shell will at least then protect the oil inside (usually Vit E is in there also for the same purpose). Should you buy flax seed oil in a bottle, then it is more difficult to protect the oil from oxidation and therefore the shelf life is less. All you can do is fasten the lid tight and keep it in the fridge.
