Steam cleaner works really good. Not a carpet cleaner. Use one of those hand held ones. Once it is clean, make sure to use a natural stone sealer so it will stay clean.

Look in your Yellow Pages under Flooring and call at least three top flooring companies, the people who sell marble as well as install it in your home. Ask them. They are always happy to help. You should get the same answer from all of them. Then double check their answers by doing a Google search.

they call it elbow grease. I use sulfuric acid diluted and a stiff brush. i would not recommend this if you are not properly protected and have a very good ventilation method. Actually the best way is have a pro do it and then seal it. If it is real bad it will take a lot of work.

Ammonia and water and a mop or rag. No need to get complicated with natural stone. Masons use muric acid to wash bricks during construction. This is industrial grade (low purity) hydrochloric acid. However, once marble is polished – i.e., fine sanded, this shouldn’t be necessary. It can always be sanded to remove chips, scratches, stains, etc.

I find the best method of a nonabrasive cleaner with no harsh chemicals is baking soda. You can mix it with plain water to make a paste or try adding distilled vinegar for extra power.

use oxalic acid diluted in water, don’t use any abrasive chemical as marble is one of the softest flooring materials and get roughened.
