Hi, i have just bought a house ,which is under construction, the builder is damn nice and has given us the flexibilty of choosing the flooring material etc.Im planning to lay marble in my entire house ,but needed to know if in case of kitchen area should i go ahead with marble or use vitrified flooring.

Would really appreciate help on this one as im clueless

It’s a gorgeous high end surface…..that like a high end woman requires lots of money to keep up appearances.

Tile….is a work surface – can take a beating and still look great. I’m a low maintence girl – I want it to look clean whether or not it really is…..I’d go with the tile.

i think i would go w/ vitrified flooring – only because i am thinking of all the traffic in kitchens ( ours seems to be the busiest room in the house) & the years of being married to a upper end home builder & it is my understanding that the marble could crack – chip – break – i am not so sure how cost effective it would be to be fixing the marble – where as the other type of flooring maybe a bit easier to fix and or replace. been in kitchens w/marble flooring – love it – it is nice & cool on the feet while working in a hot kitchen. well hope this helps some and does not make more confusion- haha p.s. : i wish you many happy years in your new home! :)

My floor is marble and I STRONGLY encourage you to not put it in your kitchen. Marble is soft and easily chips or cracks. (Think about dropping a can of soup and YIKES, big problems.) Additionally, marble HATES acids. If you spill a drop of lemonade or are cooking with citrus, or pouring yourself a glass of wine and something ends up on the floor it will etch. My floor has etch marks in numerous places. I would definitely go with the vitrified tiles.
