I would like it to have a gloss finish and it is VERY porous.
I put 3 coats of sealant (for marble tile) and 3 coats of gloss top coat (for 'stone').
I gave all top coat layers, and the final layer of sealant plenty of drying time. Now ...

Like say you wanted to "call out" (as in building plans) that the marble should be set with the _________ verticaly.
other than veins...
Vein is the most appropriate word. If they are more round, they are vugs. If an interlocking, wavy, line is present, they are called stylolites.
