It has been around since 1969, sporting either a two- or four-door variant. The word Galant comes from the French word meaning’chivalrous’ which checks with feeling like riding the car is a distinction. From its beginnings as a two door coupe, to a 4 door sports sedan, the Mitsubishi Galant made whopping sales over the decades. During the 70s, Mitsubishi introduced its MCA jet engine for the Galant. Head space, shoulder room and leg room were increased, and a trunk designed for more baggage capacity was thrown in for convenience. Acoustic dampening materials were also used to make the vehicle interiors more quiet. Diesel versions of the Galant made use of a 1.8 litre turbodiesel engine. In 1993, the 7th generation model was fitted with a 160 hp, twin cam engine, speed-sensitive steering, together with a rear stabilizer bar. Also included within the 7th generation model for the Asian and EU models was the automatic Braking System ( ABS ).

The 2004 model is bigger than its precedent and turned out to be among the largest sedans in the mid-size segment. It’s more fashionable with room for five, more sporty-looking and attractively curvy. The more modern Galants had modifications which included turbocharged V6 engines both in manual and automated transmissions with a 195hp and a rally-inspired four wheel drive. Now, the Galant 240M using a 2.4 liter MIVEC engine is also available in China.
